Job Autofill · Chrome extension
Privacy Policy
Job Autofill helps you fill job applications using information you save in your own browser. You review answers and submit applications yourself.
Information you choose to save
Your profile can include contact details, links, education, work authorization and sponsorship preferences, and optional demographic or self-identification responses. You decide which fields to complete. You can also save one PDF or DOCX resume.
Where your data is stored
Saved profile information and resume metadata are stored locally using Chrome extension storage. The resume file is stored locally in the extension's IndexedDB. Unsaved profile edits may be held temporarily in browser session storage, along with tab-specific information needed to keep the sidebar connected to the correct application page.
The public MVP does not require a Job Autofill account or upload your saved profile and resume to a developer-operated server.
What happens when you use the extension
When you open the sidebar, Job Autofill checks supported application fields to show which answers may be filled. This scan is not an application submission.
When you select Fill application, the extension places eligible saved answers into the current employer's application page. On supported Greenhouse and Ashby application hosts, it may also attach your stored resume to a recognized resume-upload field. Those websites may receive and process the inserted answers or file immediately, subject to their own privacy practices. Job Autofill does not click the final submit button for you.
Diagnostic reporting and analytics
This public version does not provide automatic diagnostic sharing, remote diagnostic uploads, diagnostic-report downloads or automated GitHub issue reporting. The extension does not send application diagnostics to the developer. Local developer-console information may be produced during use and is not intentionally transmitted by the extension.
Chrome permissions
Job Autofill uses storage to save your information, activeTab to access a page when you click its icon, and scripting to read supported form fields and fill them when requested. Job Autofill requests access to HTTPS websites during installation so it can recognize supported application forms. Detection does not fill or submit applications. Filling requires your explicit click. There is no in-app Site access or activity switch. You can disable the extension or manage website access through Chrome's extension settings.
Deleting your data
You can replace saved profile answers and delete or replace the stored resume from Profile. This version does not have a single button to delete every saved profile field. You can also use Chrome's extension-data controls or remove the extension, subject to Chrome's storage behavior. Removing the extension does not remove answers or files already sent to an employer's website.
Security and limitations
Local browser storage should not be treated as guaranteed encryption, protection from someone with access to your device, or secure deletion from every backup. Keep your device and browser profile protected. Application sites and browser services operate under their own terms and policies.
